The Perfect Summer to Fall Outfit: The Knit Set

Its hard to believe since it feels like the summer just started, but somehow fall is just around the corner. Pretty soon the weather will start to change and temperatures will begin to drop, and dressing in pieces that make feel cozy will be top of mind. Since we’re still in the midst of a pandemic and everyone is collectively staying home more, cozy fall outfits will be a higher priority than ever—as anything that makes you feel good should be right now.

While matching sweat sets will continue to be a major trend this fall, there’s another comfortable outfit that’s gaining popularity—and it happens to be the ideal summer to fall transition look. Of course we’re talking about knit sets. Similar to sweat sets in that it involves matching, tonal tops and bottoms, this set is specifically made of knit fabric that provides an interesting (and cozy!) texture.

These sets feature everything from crop tops to cardigans to hot shorts—and really the more matching knit pieces you include in your look the comfier it becomes. Knit sets that include shorts in particular make great transitional looks when summer turns into fall, as the shorts will provide temperature control while the knit fabric keeps you feeling comfortable and loungey. These pieces are cozy enough to hangout around the house in but also polished enough to run errands or go meet friends for an outdoor picnic or coffee date, so a knit set is an ideal outfit to add for fall (if you’re in the market).

You can also create your own version of a knit set by pairing two pieces of the same color family together that you already own—think an oversize sweater with knit shorts or pants. The same rule goes for sweat sets, you can always use pieces you already own to create an outfit combination that feels fresh (without spending any money or adding anything new to your closet).
